How to enable proxy settings in Telegram

Looking for the best app to stay connected with friends and loved ones? Look no further than Telegram! With its top-notch features like scheduling messages, setting reminders, and customizing appearance, Telegram stands out as a premier communication platform. One of Telegram’s unique offerings is its proxy feature, ensuring users’ safety while they enjoy seamless chatting.

Additionally, for users in restricted countries, Telegram can still be accessed by using a VPN to change your location. It’s the ultimate solution for staying connected without restrictions.

What is a telegram proxy?

A Telegram Proxy is a server that acts as an intermediary between your device and the Telegram servers, offering enhanced privacy and security features. Telegram supports proxies such as SOCKS5 and MTProto, allowing users to conceal their IP addresses effectively.

Using these proxy servers on Telegram encrypts your chats and hides your IP, ensuring a safer communication experience. Furthermore, they can be utilized to access Telegram in countries where it’s restricted. While proxies function similarly to VPNs by providing anonymity, they prioritize speed over comprehensive security measures.

How to enable telegram proxy on all your devices?

Enabling Telegram Proxy on all your devices is a straightforward process, whether you’re using Android, iOS, or desktop platforms like Windows, Linux, or MacOS. Here’s a simplified guide for each:

For Android:

Step 1: Launch the Telegram app and click on the hamburger icon.

Step 2: The telegram menu will appear, then click on Settings > Data and Storage > Proxy Settings > Use Proxy or Add Proxy

A dialogue box will appear.

Step 3: You can choose from SOCKS5 or MTProto then you have to:

  • Enter your Server or IP address/hostname and the Port number.
  • Type in your login credentials for SOCKS5 or secret credentials for MTProto.
  • Click the check mark when you are finished.

Once you’ve enabled the proxy settings in the Telegram app, you’re all set! Your Telegram proxy will be active if it displays as connected at the bottom of your Android device.

If you don’t have the necessary login credentials for proxy access, opting for a VPN subscription lets you activate the proxy. We suggest using PureVPN.

For iOS:

Step 2: Now, click on Data and Storage > Proxy > Add Proxy.

A dialogue box will appear.

  • Toggle the Use proxy button to Enable Proxy.

If you don’t have the necessary login credentials for proxy access, opting for a VPN subscription lets you activate the proxy. We suggest using PureVPN.

For desktop:

You can also use Telegram’s desktop application on Windows, Linux, and MacOS. Here’s how to enable Proxy on the Telegram desktop app:

Step 1. Launch the Telegram app

Step 2. Click on the hamburger icon.

Looking for a reliable Telegram proxy?

While free proxies are available online, they come with risks such as complex configurations, potential data leaks, and exposure to malicious sources. Instead, subscribing to a VPN like PureVPN ensures top-notch security, including no activity logs and certification as a No-Log VPN Provider by a reputable audit firm.

This approach safeguards your data and privacy while enjoying Telegram’s features without restrictions.
